It was an eye-opener for our young RS Tera sailors this weekend, taking part in the Inland Championships at Burton Sailing Club, their winter playground. All in their first proper season of solo racing, they found themselves sailing in large, highly experienced fleets for their first ever class racing regatta. Like Olympic sailors setting goals appropriate to each event, the results were nowhere as important as taking part and learning lots from those around them. In the 37 strong Sport fleet, both Hannah (003) and Alistair (3428) had a moment or two of brilliance, with plenty of boats behind them. Of the 31 in the Pro fleet, Alice (3421) generally had half a dozen boats behind her, notably moving into the main pack in the later races. And the prospect of a 6th Tera for this year's ASC summer sailing dawned, with Phoebe (no number) thoroughly enjoying getting mixed up in the Regatta fleet of 20 in her first ever experience of Tera sailing. Most impressively, they endured 5.5 hours on the water with four back to back races on Sunday, and they still came ashore smiling! It was good to meet those from other clubs, particularly the highly successful Port Dinorwic Sailing Club / Clwb Hwylio y Felinheli, who are being tempted to come to Abersoch and help with some "pop-up" Tera training this summer.

Congratulations to ASC member Adam Catlow who became the junior champion at the 2021 Europe National Championships in Weymouth over the weekend! It was a fantastic result in breeze conditions and an experienced fleet. We look forward to seeing you on the water with us again soon!🎉👏

Great to see some of our members from the small keelboat fleet getting out on the water yesterday! The flotilla of two enjoyed a leisurely sail down to Criccieth and we're joined by the dolphins on their journey! ⛵

It was great to see 12 boats line up for some impromptu racing this morning in glorious Abersoch conditions! Once again it was fantastic to see so many junior members out racing and getting great results. Well done to Nat who came 1st overall, Noah who came 2nd (and brilliantly won the 1st race) and Mark who finished 3rd!

The ASC season has got off to a fantastic start with our first ever May Bank Holiday series! We saw a great turn out with 12 boats hitting the water. Undoubtedly the highlight of the weekend was seeing 75% of the fleet made up of junior members. We were particularly impressed with the four Tera sailors who sailed fantastically in tricky light wind conditions. We now look forward to the start of the small keelboat series before the July and August dinghy sailing!
